On Day Two of the Tom Bichy Invitational, the Raptors aimed to build on their season-opening win with a challenging matchup against the nationally ranked #11 Daytona State College. It was a key early-season test for a Raptors squad with high expectations and National Tournament aspirations for the 2025 campaign. Despite a strong effort, the Raptors struggled to generate consistent offensive opportunities against a disciplined Falcons side. Daytona State controlled much of the game's tempo and proved why they're among the top teams in the nation, ultimately shutting out the Raptors and handing them their first loss of the season.
The first half began with high intensity from the Raptors, who came out strong with several early shots on goal. However, each attempt was denied by the Falcons' goalkeeper, keeping the match scoreless in the opening minutes. As the game settled, Daytona State began to assert control. In the 21st minute, the Falcons opened the scoring to take a 1-0 lead. Just five minutes later, they doubled their advantage, heading into halftime up 2-0.
The second half saw the Raptors under pressure for much of the afternoon, as the Falcons maintained possession and continued their offensive push. Mounting frustration led to two MC players being issued red cards, reducing the Raptors to nine men. Daytona State capitalized, scoring a third goal in the 79th minute to seal the 3-0 victory and hand the Raptors their first loss of the season.
The Raptors return to action on Thursday, September 4th, as they open division play at home on the Alcus Field against Hagerstown Community College. Kickoff is set for 2:00 PM
