Head Coach Patti Westenberg Earns 100th Career Win
ROCKVILLE, MD. — Montgomery College head volleyball coach Patti Westenberg reached a major milestone tonight, with her 100th career win.
Now entering her third season at the helm of the Raptors, Coach Westenberg has compiled an impressive 43-18 record since taking over the program. In 2024, she guided the team to a 13-1 conference record and a runner-up finish in the Region 20 Championship.
Under her leadership, the Raptors have not only succeeded on the court, but in the classroom and beyond. Since her arrival:
- 15 players have been named to the NJCAA All-Academic Team,
- 8 players have earned NJCAA All-Region 20 honors,
- 3 players have transferred to four-year institutions to continue their academic and athletic careers.
Westenberg also serves as the President of the MDJUCO Volleyball Coaches Association, in addition to her roles with Metro Volleyball Club in Washington, D.C., where she has coached since 2017 as the Central Region Director and 18 Central Head Coach. There, she has helped 13 student-athletes commit to play at the collegiate level.
Her coaching career spans over two decades, including:
- Head Coach at Frederick Community College (2017–2022)
- Assistant Coach at NCAA DII Wayne State University (2009–2011), where she coached two AVCA All-Region players
- Nine seasons at Michigan Elite Volleyball Club
- Varsity Coach at Cousino High School (MI), where she was named Macomb Area Conference Coach of the Year in 2005-2006
As a player, Westenberg was a standout middle hitter/blocker, earning All-Region honors and Team MVP at Macomb Community College, before transferring to NCAA Division I Oakland University, where she was named to the Mid-Continent Conference All-Tournament Team in 2003.
Coach Westenberg holds a Bachelor of Arts in History with a minor in French, and a Master of Arts in Secondary Education. She lives in Rockville, Maryland, with her husband Eric and their daughters, Charlotte and Salem. When not coaching, she works as a youth instructor at Lifetime Fitness and a substitute teacher for MCPS. She enjoys traveling, gardening, and cheering on her daughters as they begin their own volleyball journeys.
