The Raptors women's soccer team is on a 14-game winning streak and is 16-2 overall. MC has outscored their opponents 91-10, scoring an average of 5.35 goals per game, and taking 21 shots per game. Nathaly Alvear leads the nation in assists with 28 and tied for second is her teammate Amaguana with 15 assists.
At the tournament, the Raptors shot the lights out against Anne Arundel CC in the semifinals with 16 shots on goal, finding the back of the net six times. Claire Couturier started the scoring for the Raptors in the 18th minute followed by Nathaly Alvear in the 37th minute. The Raptors had a 2-0 lead halfway through the game.
In the second half, Ariella Amaguana scored two goals and had an assist to Angela Patino who found the back of the net. Nathaly Alvear laced a perfect ball from about 30 yards out off a free kick to wrap up the scoring in the 88th minute.
The next game posed a challenge for the Raptors as the Howard CC Dragons scored early and the Raptors trailed 1-0 at halftime. Howard's defense made it difficult for the Raptors to get quality shots off or pass the ball cleanly. But in the 69th minute, the nation's leading assist leader, Nathaly Alvear served up a ball off a free kick that found Gaelin Hirabayashi in a sea of black jerseys who headed the ball into the goal to tie the game.
Ten minutes later, Amaguana dribbled the ball through the defense and got off a clean shot that found the back of the net.
Josselyn Flores, Ariella Amaguana, Alejandra Ramos, and Jennifer Pineda were named to the All-Tournament Team.
The Raptors will travel to Toms River, NJ to compete in the NJCAA DIII Women's Soccer National Championship November 10-13th. The seedling is TBA but the Raptors are currently ranked 2nd in the nation.
