On Tuesday, October 20, the women's soccer team played its last game of the regular season against Frederick Community College (CC). Frederick got off to a hot start scoring two goals in the first 35 minutes of the game to take a 2-0 lead. Three minutes after Frederick's second goal, Raptors sophomore Leslie Rivera scored to put MC on the board and build some momentum going into halftime.
The game was scoreless in the first 40 minutes of the second half and it looked like the Raptors would be able to tie the game before the final whistle. It wasn't until the 84th minute when Alejandra Ramos was able to dribble past the Frederick defense and score a breakaway goal to tie the game. In extra time, Claire Couturier found a loose ball in front of the goal and buried it the back of the net to give Montgomery the 3-2 victory over Frederick.
The Montgomery College Raptors women's soccer team finished the regular season on a four-game winning streak and a record of 9-5 overall and 5-2 in MDJUCO. Montgomery is the #3 seed in the DIII NJCAA Region XX Women's Soccer Tournament and will play #2 Howard CC (13-1) in the semi-finals on Thursday, October 29th at Anne Arundel CC. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. If the Raptors win they will play in the championship game on Saturday, October 31st at Prince George's CC at 10 a.m.
