Raptors Women's Soccer Outscores Rowan, Falls to CSM
The Montgomery College women's soccer team is quickly finding their stride early in the season. The Raptors have scored 16 goals in their first six games. The Raptors are aggressive on the pitch looking to go at the goal every trip down the field.
The Montgomery College women's soccer team is quickly finding their stride early in the season. The Raptors have scored 16 goals in their first six games. The Raptors are aggressive on the pitch looking to go at the goal every trip down the field. Last Friday, MC hosted the Hawks of College of Southern MD in the second game of a double header. The Hawks tallied a goal within the first 10 minutes. The Raptors answered with a goal of their own in the 17th minute from team captain Sonia Rada. CSM quickly retaliated scoring another goal a minute later. In the 43rd minute, freshman Claire Couturier streaked passed all the Hawks and scored an unassisted for MC. The Hawks struck again before halftime taking a 3-2 lead, which proved to be enough to defeat the Raptors.
On Sunday, September 20th the Raptors hosted an early afternoon game against Rowan College at Gloucester County. Montgomery College's Nathaly Alvear found the back of the net first and followed by another goal from Claire Couturier a minute later. Claire Couturier scored her second goal of the game in the 39th minute and Rashida Wurie followed with a goal of her own right before halftime. The Raptors piled on 4 goals in the first half to take a 4-0 leads. Rowan College came out of halftime determined and scored 3 unanswered goals until Raptors Alejandra Ramos scored in the 87th minute to preserve the lead. MC defeated Rowan College in a high scoring match, 5-3. The Raptors have started the season 2-4 overall and 1-2 in the MDJUCO.
