Raptors Compete on National Stage at NJCAA DI Championships
Hobbs, New Mexico - Sophomores Isaac Benavides and Kendall Wideman II represented the Montgomery College Track & Field program at the NJCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Hobbs, New Mexico, closing out a successful 2026 outdoor season on the national stage.
Sophomore hammer thrower and national qualifier Isaac Benavides capped off an impressive spring campaign with an 11th place finish in the Men's Hammer Throw. Benavides recorded marks of 50.70m (166-4) and 50.44m (165-6), competing against some of the top junior college athletes in the country. Throughout the season, Benavides consistently placed among the top competitors in the region, earning multiple first-place finishes and establishing himself as one of the top throwers in program history.
Sophomore high jumper Kendall Wideman II also earned a national qualification after hitting the qualifying standard during the final regular season meet of the year. Wideman played a major role in the resurgence of Montgomery College Track & Field this season, helping elevate the program's visibility while setting the tone for future student-athletes joining the Raptors program.
Both sophomores conclude their Montgomery careers after helping lay a strong foundation for the continued growth of Raptors Track & Field under the program's renewed direction.
