Freshman Nusaibah Rashad scored a career-high 44 points with 37 rebounds in the No. 5 Raptors 85-69 victory over No. 4 Frederick CC in the quarterfinal game of the Region XX DII Basketball Tournament.
Jordan Odom dropped 18 points with 7 rebounds and 4 assists while Alexis Mack added 9 points and 10 rebounds in the quarterfinal game to help the Raptors advance to the semifinals where they faced Chesapeake College.
After trailing 20-10 after the first quarter, the Raptors bench had to step up as Rashad and Mack both picked up two quick fouls in the first quarter. Both players had to come out early in the second quarter after Rashad and Mack each picked up another foul before the midway point.
Gregory was 3-for-5 and went for 6 points in the second quarter to help keep MC within striking range at halftime only trailing 11 points at halftime 36-25.
The Raptors responded to the halftime speech and came out of the locker room to win the third quarter 23-21. Odom shot 50% from the field with a pair of threes to drop 10 points while Rashad scored all of her 7 points in the third frame.
Odom went on to score 13 points in the fourth quarter to finish with a game-high 29 points and 9 rebounds. The Raptors fell to Chesapeake College 80-71 in the semifinal game of the Region XX DII Basketball Tournament. Chesapeake would later go on to win the Region XX Title. Odom was selected to the All-Tournament Team.
The MC Raptors women's basketball team finished the 2018-2019 season with an overall record of 17-12.
