Men's Basketball Makes History Finishing 5th in the Country at NJCAA DIII Basketball Championship Tournament The Montgomery College Raptors men's basketball team made history over the weekend in Loch Sheldrake, NY as the team finished in 5th place in the 2017-18 NJCAA Division III Championship Tournament. Men's Basketball Wins District VII Championship, Punches Ticket to National Championship Tournament The Montgomery College men's basketball team is the 2018 NJCAA DIII District VII Champions! The Raptors trounced Sandhills Community College Flyers (Pinehurst, NC) 85-59 in the semifinals and defeated Prince George's Community College 85-71 in the finals to punch their ticket to Loch Sheldrake, New York, to play in the 2017-18 NJCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship March 15-17. Men’s Basketball Team Defeats Penn Highlands and Prince George’s CC to Capture Back-to-Back NJCAA DIII Region XX Championships The Montgomery College Raptors men’s basketball team defeated Penn Highlands 87-61 to advance to finals and beat Prince George’s CC 73-65 to capture the 2017-17 NJCAA DIII Region XX Title. Men's Basketball Goes 1-1 in Maryland JUCO Tournament; Turner Eclipses 1,000 Career Points LARGO, MD – The Montgomery Raptors became the third match up low-seed in a row to come out on top in the quarterfinals of the Maryland Juco Conference Men's Basketball Tournament, as the No. 5 seed defeated the No. 4 seed Baltimore City Panthers 95-84. Montgomery's Collin Turner, a 2-time Maryland Juco Student-Athlete of the Month this season, eclipsed 1,000 career points in the victory. In an offensive outburst, the Raptors shot 50% from behind the arc (10-20). A 9-0 run, supported by three straight three-pointers gave the Raptors a 32-18 lead with 8:22 left in the half. Full Story
Men’s Basketball Makes History with First-Ever 20-Win Regular Season in the Program’s History with Win Over Chesapeake College in Season Finale The Montgomery College men’s basketball team concluded their final game of the 2017-18 regular season with 73-68 victory at Chesapeake College. This win marks the men’s basketball program’s 20th win in the regular season, the program’s first-ever achievement in the history of Montgomery College, and the third consecutive year Head Coach Keith Byrd and his staff have recorded at least 20 wins in a season. Men's Basketball Finds the Remedy After Tough Loss, Picks Up Two Wins The Montgomery College men's basketball team won their previous two contest defeating CCBC Catonsville by 8 points 90-82 and Westmoreland County Community College on Martin Luther King Day, 104-62, after suffering a difficult loss on the road to College of Southern Maryland January 9.
